17-year-old Jesse, from Nampa, was diagnosed in September 2004 with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and began an extensive treatment regimen spanning nearly 2 years. On Sunday, January 6th Jesse’s most heartfelt wish or restoring his truck came true. Like most 17-year-olds, Jesse loves to play video games and is very knowledgeable about cars. Geometry is his favorite subject in school and he is also an active member of the Columbia High School dance team.
Jesse’s original wish was to appear on the show “Overhaulin’” and to have his pickup restored by the talented star, Chip Foose. Unfortunately, circumstances did not allow that, but a plan was adopted to ask Chip to create a custom artist’s rendering for local mechanics and body shop technicians to complete the renovation. This process has involved an extraordinary number of businesses, parts dealers, and service technicians, wish granting volunteers and Make-A-Wish staff.
The original pickup cab and frame were retained, but the restoration mushroomed into virtually every other nut and bold being replaced. The pickup contains a new engine, transmission, brake system, electrical system, seats, carpet, car stereo, windows, custom paint and the crowning glory of all: Chip Foose designed custom wheels!!!
